 [FR] Michael est un linguiste, formé aux lettres classiques et à l'étude du Proche-Orient de l'antiquité tardive. Il débute sa scolarité à l'Upper Canada College et à Ridley College, pour ensuite entrer à l'Université de Trinity College de Toronto où il passe sa licence. Spécialiste de l'Iran sous les Sassanides, il est bien avisé sur l'histoire préislamique du monde méditerranéen et celle de la naissance de l'Islam. De surcroît, de nombreux voyages à travers le Moyen-Orient ont enrichi son parcours. Sa thèse de maîtrise (MPhil, Oxford 2010) sur l'Iran du sixième siècle, obtenue avec les félicitations du jury, a été publiée par l'Association pour l'avancement des études iraniennes à Paris (Studia Iranica). Sa thèse de doctorat (DPhil, Oxford 2014) en études orientales au sein de l'Institut Oriental de l'Université d'Oxford a été publié par la série Res Orientales. Durant son doctorat, il était conseiller en politiques d'un ministre de la couronne à Ottawa. Michael est actuellement historien indépendant de l'Iran sous la dynastie sassanide, et il travaille en tant que directeur des politiques au bureau d'un ministre au sein du gouvernement de l'Ontario. [EN] Michael is a linguist with a background in Classics and the Late Antique Middle East. Michael attended Ridley College and Upper Canada College, and worked for his undergraduate degree at Trinity College, Toronto. Though a specialist in Late Antique Iran, Michael is well-read in both pre-Islamic and early Islamic history, and has travelled widely throughout the Middle East both before and during his research.
His MPhil thesis (Oxford 2010) on Sasanian Iran in the sixth century has been published as a cahier by Studia Iranica, a series put out by Peeters Publishers in Louvain. His doctoral thesis (Oxford 2014) also dealt with Iranian history and was published by Res Orientales. While finishing his doctorate, Michael was a policy adviser to a Minister of the Crown in Ottawa.
